HORRORS & HOOTS: Meet the Brazilian

There was only one reason I hesitated to send in my final registration fees to beauty school. Only one thing held me back. You see, I was to become an Esthetician. Someone who gave facials, treated skin conditions, gave body wraps, learned make-up and colour…and is a skilled body waxer. (gulp)
…..
People wax their eyebrows. They wax their upper lips. They get back waxes. They get leg waxes. People wax chins and even arms. Those body parts I knew I could do, no sweat. What did make me sweat however, was the thought of The Brazilian Wax. You know, the full-wax-down-under. After much blood, sweat and tears (minus the blood and the tears), I decided to register anyways. “Who knows,” I thought, “Maybe the unit on Brazilian Waxing is optional!”
…..
No. Such. Luck. The time came when I, Jen, became a body waxer…a full body waxer. Surprisingly, this quickly became just like any job – as one of a nurse who just performs their duties without much of a second thought. But let me tell you this, as a brand new student in the waxing room at our school with actual clients, this was quite the nerve-racking job. Since this is a PG-rated blog, I will keep details to a minimum…however there was one day that my mom called me after a long day in the waxing room at school:
…..
Mom: How did school go today, honey?
…..
Jenni: It was fine. I’m exhausted though. I was in the waxing room all day today and I had 4 Brazillians.
…..
Mom: Brazillians? Are they hairy?
…..
AAAAUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, I know – maybe that’s more of a PG-13 entry, but I just couldn’t help it. After a moment of being completely mortified, I realized my dear mom thought that I had waxed 4 Brazillian women…you know, like the ethnic group, not the full-wax-job-down-under. I laughed. And laughed. I might have even cried I laughed so hard. There comes a time in every daughters life that her mother must give her “the talk” – what I never expected was that one day, I would be sitting in my car on my cellphone giving my mother “the talk”. The talk about The Brazillian. Wax that is, not the ethnic group.
