No longer a virgin…

Well, I lost it.  This last weekend.  Saturday night to be exact.  In the moonlight.  There was even a shooting star.

What did I lose?

My RRCV…Red Rocks Concert Virginity.

Just outside of Denver, nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains there’s a world famous outdoor amphitheater carved into an incredible rock formation called Red Rocks.  Anyone who’s anyone has played there.  And anyone who has lived in Denver for over a year and a half is basically overdue if they haven’t seen a concert there.

When I saw the Avett Brothers were coming to RR for a concert, I knew it was time to lose my RRCV.  To make things even better, my great friend Ann Marie {and baby Autumn} were visiting for the weekend from Minnesota…so two tickets were purchased and a baby-sitter was found.

Pre-concert, Ann Marie, Autumn and I headed up to Boulder for their infamous Farmer’s Market…

Autumn loved every minute of it…

Saying goodbye and goodnight to Sweet Cheeks before heading to the concert…

No longer a virgin…

The concert was nothing less than AMAZING.  Amazing harmony, amazing acoustics, amazing company.  After the sun had fully set and the moon lit up the night sky, the Avett Brothers brought out their dad and sister for one song.  A beautiful acoustic hymn.  They’re not a Christian band, but as they sang a 5-part harmonic hymn, the largest, longest falling star that I had ever seen fell from the sky and the crowd went wild.  It was beautiful, powerful and so fitting for the moment.  I couldn’t help but wonder if it was God’s way of acknowledging His recognition in that moment.

It’s always so fun to have great friends visit my “home” here in Colorado and share this life in the Rockies with them that I SO LOVE.  Thanks for coming Ann Marie and Autumn! 🙂

  • I lost my RRCV a few years ago when Kathy and I with Sonny and Leah went to a Jason Maraz concert there. It is a very cool place!
